Welcome to Shaded Shells, a small North Carolina farm raising beautiful, vigorous lines of Black Copper Marans, Welsummer, Ameraucana, Olive/Moss layers, Chocolate Layers, and Jersey Giants. Whether you’re building a colorful basket, starting a back-yard flock, or scaling up a homestead, we make it easy to begin with hatching eggs, day-old chicks, or a fully loaded incubator—ready to plug in and hatch at home.

What we offer

• Hatching Eggs — Fresh, fertile, carefully packed for strong starts and rich shell color.
• Day-Old Chicks — Hardy, well-started chicks from proven breeding pens.
• Loaded Incubators — You reserve a hatch in our on-farm incubators; we manage the hatch and you receive healthy chicks when it’s complete. Limited incubator rentals are also available—contact us for pricing and availability.

Before you order (quick highlights):

For flock safety, no returns or exchanges on poultry or eggs. Chick refunds are limited to chicks that arrive deceased or pass within 24 hours of arrival (see full terms for photo/timing requirements). Hatching-egg sales are final and hatch rates aren’t guaranteed after shipment due to variables in transit and incubation. Pre-orders are filled first-come, first-served when weather and laying/hatching allow (typically many winter pre-orders begin shipping in March).
